How CostMate works

See how CostMate scopes, prices, defends and lets you check your own quote: the full walkthrough for NZ residential builders.

Four steps, and the point of all four is the same: by the time the PDF goes out, there is nothing in it you cannot explain to the person reading it.

Why each step is there

Each of CostMate's four steps is there for a reason, and here is each reason in a sentence.

A number with no scope behind it is the thing that turns into an argument three weeks in, because nobody wrote down what it was a number for.

If a line has no price behind it, it says so instead of quietly showing zero.

The output is labelled as an estimate or a fixed quote, clearly, so the client knows which one they are holding.

Proving it against what the job really cost is the step most estimating stops short of, and it is the one that makes the next quote better rather than just faster.

Good to know

Review every estimate against your own plans, your own rates and your own experience of the job before you put your name on it.
